Baptism

When we come to Jesus, we are made new.

Baptism functions as a visible symbol of a deeper, invisible reality. When you’re submerged in water, you identify with Christ’s death to your old self and old ways. Coming up out of the water reminds us of Christ’s resurrection, that we are united with Christ, and declares, “I not just a different or better person — I am brand new in Jesus!”

What baptism is:

  • A proclamation of your faith in Christ

  • A symbol of going from “death” to “life” in Christ

  • A symbol of being cleansed from our sin because of Jesus’ death and resurrection

What it’s not:

  • A supernatural act that saves us

  • An act that will make it so we never sin again.
